LJ 1020, Margins of pages, A4 and Letter

I've tested this on a 1022 and haven't had problems. So want to check your settings.

What file should I show? (may be /etc/... ?)
Or should I show screenshots of my HPLIP?
My system is Kubuntu 7.10 and I have installed HPLIP using .run self-extracting file using custom case. May be I should use automatic case?

Did you run hp-setup to configure the printer? Currently it doesn't appear that the printer is configured for using hplip.

Run:

sudo hp-setup

done it again, test page seems to be ok, but after it second empty page was printed again :(

Yes, when I print pages in A4-format, it is as you have said: a normal page, then blank page
When I pring 10 pages, for example, I have to have 20 pages in slot...
When I print pages in Letter-format, everything seems to be ok, except the first page:
10 pages: 1 is garbage(?), 9 last are normal
Wnen I print 1 page in Letter format, it is ok
But I need A4 format...

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo apt-get install foomatic-db foomatic-db-hpijs gs libcupsys2 gs-esp libsnmp-dev

I can not do this line
sudo apt-get remove hplip foomatic-db foomatic-db-hpijs gs libcupsys2 gs-esp
because after it system wants to delete all applications, that can print anything
I cannot remove libcupsys2, so I removed everything except it
But when I removed hplip, I receive "Error printing"

More information!
I have found, where the problem is!
When I printed test page with rectangle around it, one line of pixels were printed on the next page
So, my empty pages are just pages with one (or 2,3) lines of pixels!
Driver's A4 format is just bigger for several lines of pixels than printer's one

I have fixed it :)
I have installed drivers from
http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/
And it worked
So, there is a small bug in HPLIP (!)

Sorry for the delay.

I can reproduce this and it is a problem. We're working on a solution and it should be included in the next release of hplip.

For an Open Source solution, instead of a closed source solution like HPLIP.

I have already changed my drivers.
But HPLIP is free and opensource
It is just not ready for using with my printer
And I hope this problem will be fixed in next version

This question was expired because it remained in the 'Open' state without activity for the last 15 days.

I am still waiting this bug to be fixed in the next version of HPLIP

Please re-test with the latest hplip release.

The first test was Ok, but when I have tried to print a real document, a problem was still there:
page / empty page / page / empty page....

Please run hp-check again and post the output. This was fixed in the latest release so I want to be sure that you are using the updated version.

I tested a LaserJet 1020 on Ubuntu 7.10 with both Letter and A4 and it worked correctly. I think there is a conflict on your system. Perhaps try uninstalling hplip;

cd hplip-2.8.2
sudo make uninstall
sudo rm -rf /usr/share/hplip/

then in the same directory re-install hplip;

sudo apt-get remove hplip
make clean
./install.py

Does that have any effect?
