HPLIP

Pints colors and gray, but not black

The printer, HP 5740, prints colors in a lighter shade and black as dark gray, but does not print black

I went to the HPLIP website and followed links to their help and support. The site provided a problem solve that provided terminal commands that corrected the installation I downloaded from Ubuntu Software Center. Evidently the USC download was not an exact fit to my printer.
