Scanning over Network

I tried to set up scanning from a client over a server.
Scanning directly on the server is working, but scanning from the client does not.
On clientside:
In the file net.conf i entered the IP of the server.
In the file dll.conf there is an entry "net".
Ubuntu 7.10 desktop is installed.

On serverside:
I entred a +-sign in the file saned.conf.
I also tried to enter the IP of the client in the saned.conf file.
Ubuntu 7.10 Server is installed

but i allways get a

syslog.0:Dec 12 23:17:04 tkserver saned[6287]: init: access by host <ip of the client> denied
syslog.0:Dec 12 23:17:04 tkserver saned[6287]: quit: exiting

can it be, there is a bug, or what am i making wrong?

The HPLIP package doesn't provide for support with sharing your scanner over the network. However if you google for something such as "sane scanner sharing" you should come up with several sites that describe the process.

Since the scanner works properly from the server, this does not appear to be
an HPLIP issue, but a SANE one. I would recommend that you post to the SANE
support forum to get some help with this.
