Web images, logos, etc. not printing

Using HP OfficeJet 6310 on openSuSE 12.1 OS using hplip 3.12.2

Issue: Web images, logos, colors, frame content not printing.

Same printer using hpoj on openSuSE 11.1 OS worked as expected.

Printer options selected: Print background images, print background colors

Please advise.

Hi Larry,

Can you please provide us the output of "hp-check -t" from the terminal. And also run "gs -v" from the terminal and paste the output here.

FYI:

To find out whether or not Ghostscript is the root cause
you may try out the "newest hottest" plain upstream Ghostscript 9.05
from the openSUSE build service development project "Printing".

Hi Larry,

Please try downloading and installing the latest Ghostscript version 9.05.

Also please delete all the existing print queues using "system-config-printer" from the terminal and re-configure the queues using "hp-setup".

If the problem still persists post the output of "gs -v" and "hp-check -t" again.

Ghostscript 9.05 has been installed. Now the printer blacks out web images,
logos, etc., wasting a lot of black ink! The gs -v and hp-check -t output is

Greetings,

After installing Ghostscript 9.05 as suggested in messages 3 & 4 above, and submitting the results of gs -v and hp-check -t in message 5 above, the next message I received was message 6 above telling me that the question was expired. The issue remains unresolved. Please advise.

And if it is "/usr/local/bin/gs", please copy the same to "/usr/bin/gs" using following command.

$cp /usr/local/bin/gs /usr/bin/gs.

Greetings Srikanth,

The results of "which gs" is "/usr/bin/gs", which is where your message
indicated it belongs. Attached are three images. The first, "ATT pmnt.png"
is a screen shot of what I was trying to print from online. The second, " ATT
pmnt2.jpeg" is a scan of what actually printed. The third "ATT conf
email.jpeg" is a scan of the printout from AT&T's confirmation email, and is
included for the purpose of showing that the printer is correctly printing in
color, except when printing from the internet. What do you suggest as the
next step?

=> Download and install the latest HPLIP release from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html
=> Reconfigure print queue with the commands mentioned below.
       =>system-config-printer (remove all print queues)
       =>hp-setup (for adding print queue)
=>Enable/Clear Logs as mentioned below
    a)Open /etc/cups/cupsd.conf in root mode and replace
        LogLevel warn
          with
       LogLevel debug
       hpLogLevel 15
    b) Open Terminal and run following commands:
       => su
       => /etc/init.d/cups restart
                  or
       => service cups restart
       => cd /tmp
       => rm *.out
       => rm *.bmp
       => cat dev/null > /var/log/cups/error_log
       => cat dev/null > /var/log/syslog
       => cat dev/null > /var/log/messages
       => hp-check -t > /tmp/hpcheck.log
    c) Try to print the file. If issue is not yet resolved then please send following files
        (**Please use "Create a bug report" to attach the logs as "Ask a Question" does not provide the file attachment option)
          => /var/log/syslog (if present),

As you requested, I attempted to file a bug report, but could find the ability
to upload, or attach, only one file, and you requested 7, so I'm sending
another email message.

After following all of the instructions below from your previous message, here
are the results:

After using VI to edit /etc/cups/cupsd.conf , all went as expected thru "cd
/tmp", for both of the rm commands below, the result was "no such file or
directory". After cd back to root, the three "cat dev/null" commands produced
no visable response. Attached are the requested files, the last 2 of which is
a screenshot of what I tried to print, followed by the actual print output.

My System is openSuse 12.1, and HPLIP version is 3.12.2. The system would
not let me attach /var/log/messages, and /tmp/*.bmp and /tmp/*.out were not
present.
