3.11.5 support HP Deskjet 1000 J110?

Asked by Lucy Ijams

I am using an older version of Ubuntu, but have a new printer. HPLIP 3.10.9 will have the "right stuff" for the new printer HP Deskjet 1000 J 110, but how do I acquire it. OR will 3.11.5 latest release have the "right stuff" for this printer?

Unsophisticated, new Ubuntu user, Gnome, Debian

Hi,

Please visit http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install_wizard/index.html and select your distro and device name. Download the latest HPLIP-3.11.5 and install in your machine.
You will get the step by step instruction at http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html

Thank you Ani. This will not work because I am running Ubuntu 9.04 and it is not an option in the install wizard. I am trying now to install 3.10.9 because it supports the new printer. Had a hiccup.

Let me know if you want me to quote the last part of the terminal commands. I am not sure of the commands to get the missing dependencies, but I might be able to figure it out.

This whole thing has taken me days to figure out. Makes me think about (dare I say it?) going back to Windows XP. Horrors!!

in good faith,
Lucy Ijams

Well, Ani, I was hoping and I thank you for helping me. I am not sure I
am up to the task of upgrading to a new version of Ubuntu. I may have
to ditch this computer and get another one and install all new Ubuntu
and peripherals software. Perhaps I will keep the printer and try to
use it with Windows XP on my laptop. This is another HP dinosaur with a
broken CD-ROM/DVD drive. I appreciate your help.
