OfficeJet Pro K850 Unwanted Self-Test Pages

Asked by rmflagg

I just installed a new magenta print cartridge, no big deal. The OJ K850 then printed a self-test page. Everything seemed fine. I printed out an image and there was no magenta, then the printer printed out another self-test page. No magenta.
I printed another self-test page, looked okay, magenta was there. I printed another image, no magenta and it printed another self-test page with no magenta.
I'm stumped!

UPDATE: *Every* time I print something, the printer prints out a self-test page.

I am running Ubuntu 10.04 with HPLIP 3.10.2 installed. The printer is connected via USB direct, no hubs.
I have never had these types of problems before!

Please upgrade the HPLIP version to latest 3.10.6. Do you have only magenta cartridge installed in the printer?

Every time I print any type of document/image, it prints out a self-test page. What could be causing this??!

Can you check in System -> Administration -> Printing.

Select the printer and right click and action on "Properties".

Check Settings.

Even I'm also not sure about how to disable self-test page print.

Hi,
The test page that printed each time is HPLIP/CUPS/Cartride test page?? As you installed magenta cartridge recently most probably that will be cartridge test page and magenta is not printing means cartridge configuration not properly happened. If so this is a hardware problem and please contact HP Total care at http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpsupport/index.pl for this issue.

If the test page is HPLIP test page please post the result of hp-check -t here.

Sorry for the delay in reply

Thanks and Regards
Ani Balakrishnan
