Homebank requests a disc in drive D

Asked by George Werner

When I open Homebank, I get the message that there is no disc in drive D (I have no disc). After I click on "continue," and then I click on the Homebank icon, then the program runs just fine. . How can I stop that popup?

someone already encountered this,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/homebank/+bug/1521298

not related to homebank.

I'm probably missing something, but while the bug is the same, there is no resolution that I can make out. This occurs only with Homebank (a great program, by the way), version 5.1.2 on both my Win 10 and Win 7 computers.

Have you any other thoughts about this, what seems to be a, bug?

if it was a bug, several people will encounter it, I have no report except yours (despite users on 7, and even XP).
I really more think something isolated to your computer, several more point to check:

- in C:\Program FIles (x86°)\Homebank, there is a gtk3-widget-factory.exe
=> if you have the same message, this comes from GTK+ (UI stack used by HomeBank)

- try also by launching HomeBank from a cmd.exe console window, maybe you will get- some messages

- try with a friend or other family computer
=> if you don't get the message means your PC is the definitely the source

- try without your antivirus, if you have

- last, and that's the only way to really know where this message comes from, but it might be difficult to uses:
You can try figure out what happens with a tool like procmon from microsoft:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processmonitor.aspx

after that, I don't know really

Maxime, you were correct; it is my computer and not a bug(apologies!). I tested Homebank on another Win 10 computer and the offending messagedid not appear.

Also, I ran gtk+-widget-factory.exe as you suggested and themessage did appear. Now I have to learn GTK+ to see how to change thatbehavior.

Nonetheless, you have developed a great program, one which Iwill continue to use (and you may have seen my recent € 20 donation as a thankyou).

George
