Cannot configure gnome pilot.

Asked by John Wilson

I am new to Ubuntu 7.04 and when I run Gnome pilot for the first time I get the following error message:
Read/Write permissions failed on
Dr. john Wilson (/dev/pilot)
Check the permissions on the device and retry.
This occurs if I just use the default options rather than putting in my hotsync name.
I cannot find a file /dev/pilot.
What do I do next?
Regards,
John Wilson

When I changed from the defaults to USB which is how my Palm syncs Gnome pilot runs, sort of.

Hi John,

I had a problem and didn't want to use "Evolution" I downloaded JPilot
and followed the instructions here:

ttps://help.ubuntu.com/community/PalmDeviceSetup

then I hit the hotsync button for the palm and the hotsync button in jPilot and it worked like a charm.
