thunderbird count of new messages and launcher fails

Asked by Rick Curry

Previously used "Messaging Menu and Unity Launcher integration" extension 0.9.3 by Mike Conley. A count of messages per mail folder was displayed in Unity messaging drop-down and mail envelope would turn blue. clicking on a folder would bring that folder up. When this extension became integrated in Thunderbird the notifications in the Unity Mail area began to fail and generally only show new messages in the Inbox. Attempted to disable 0.9.3 extension and count of Inbox messages no longer is displayed; envelope no longer turns blue. Used Ubuntu Software Center to Remove thunderbird-globalmenu, rebooted machine, re-installed, then rebooted again. Still not seeing the notifications.

Please suggest repair/reinstall steps that might recover the great functionality initially experienced in this extension as it applies to Thunderbird.

This bug is attached to the wrong extension. The problem extension ("Messaging Menu and Unity Launcher integration" extension 0.9.3 by Mike Conley, now built-in to Thunderbird) does not (AFAIK) have any relation to this extension. Will attempt to locate where to submit problems for that extension.
