Entertainer and lirc

Asked by bixtool

I am trying to work Entertainer with an older ATI Remote Wonder remote using lirc.
I believe I read earlier that Entertainer does not yet support remotes.
Would it still be possible to setup Entertainer using lirc?

bixtool,

The short answer is no, Entertainer does not support lirc. It was a feature
that Paul Hummer planned to implement but then we discovered bigger problems
with the code base. You can see that it is the number one item sitting on
our ideas page over at the wiki.

thanks Matt. I will follow entertainer's development.

I read somewhere that Paul Hummer was maintaining py-lirc and I hoped lirc may have been integrated into entertainer.

I will check at the lirc site for help. I should be able to simulate keystrokes and thereby control entertainer.
Unfortunately, ideas = many and knowledge = little. I will keep plowing ahead :0)

Regardless, thanks for answering my queries. It's been two weeks now since I abandoned Microsoft and started my journey into linux. And I'm still more than a little lost. But the linux community is very helpful.
