cbc.sovle

Asked by Dupront

Hello,

I would like to use cbc.solve to learn more about fenics.

Unfortunately I don't know how to download cbc.solve.
I went to the website of the project by I am really not
familiar with this kind of page.

What is the procedure to get it ?
Also how could I be sure that the version of cbc.solve
that I would get would be compatible with the version
of Fenics I recently installed on my ubuntu lucid 10.04

Thanks a lot in advance.

I would try the website for the CBC solver collection at https://launchpad.net/cbc.solve. You can get the code either by using Bazaar ($bzr branch lp:cbc.solve) or you might also be able to install using Dorsal.

It should work fine with FEniCS 1.0. I don't know if we have packages
for 10.04. You should really upgrade to a newer Ubuntu.

Yes, we have packages for 10.04 in the FEniCS PPA. Ubuntu 10.04 is a
LTS release and it will be supported at least until the next LTS
release (12.04) is out.

Note that one should be able to upgrade directly from 10.04 to 12.04.

Thanks you everybody.

I have tried to install a newer version of Ubuntu but I just couldn't.
This is because of my graphic card. No matter how I try to install
a recent version of ubuntu, I always end up with a beautiful black screen.
The only thing that works is to install karmic and upgrade it to
lucid.
One month to wait ...

I downloaded the latest cbc.solve branch as explained to me.
But it is not compatible with my ubuntu lucid Fenics.
If I knew which older branch to dwonload ...

I find a hold version that is working fine at least for the
case I am interested in: twist.
