default keyring password

Asked by ray30

Sir 9/2/2020,

I just today l downloaded deja-dup thru
synaptic package Manager, and then rebooted
to start an incremental backup of my system
to disk that my system K14.04 runs on.
But it request a default keyring password
before continuing on, but don't have one?
where do I get it from as only on Dial-up?

Yours Ray

Hello! Looks like you’re using Kubuntu? Deja Dup is designed for GNOME and it uses the GNOME keyring. I think these days, they use the same backend keyring? But that might not be true on 14.04.

But I’m not familiar with KDE enough to know what the right solution is here.

Michael Terry 13/3/2020,

So you do not know what the answer is?
Where else could I find the result I am after?

(K)Ubuntu 14.04 is not supported any more.
See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases
(only in ESM Status, which is an option for paid support for selected server packages; you are usining synaptic which tells that your system is a desktop and not a server)

And for your keyring question, a search for "gnome keyring default password" brings lots of results, among others
https://mxlinux.org/uncategorized/gnome-keyring/ and
https://wiki.gnome.org/action/show/Projects/GnomeKeyring
Maybe that helps.
