Got banned by hub for "using client to alter client tag"

Asked by Dmitry K

Today I got banned by <email address hidden> from his hub Epsilon
I been a member there since 2004. I got banned permanently today and I got a letter from him which says
"We have reasons to believe that you most likely use flylink or similar clients to alter client tag. Those clients are forbidden"

The thing is I don't even know anything about some kind of clients which alter client tag. I don't even know what a client tag is...
I just upgraded the DC++ to the newest client, which I got from https://dcplusplus.sourceforge.io/
I did NOT install anything else.

Can someone explain to me what happened and how come the mod on the hub Epsilon got the idea that I am trying to alter client tag. Which DC++ I should have used? Why did Master Evan think that I am trying to alter client tag?

THank you

D

Probably you were automatically banned by an idiot hub script or bot. You got the email for the owner, explain yourself, also tell them what version of DC++ you have used before the upgrade. If there's any common sense in them they should unban you then.

eMTee suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #90: “I can't connect / lost registration or am banned from one or more hubs or I have a problem with a rule, user, etc.. in a specific hub. Can you help me?”.

Can you help with this problem?
