Windows 7 connection problems with other users especially as active mode

Asked by arksun

Hi and hello.
I have some stupid problem with connections in DC++ (v. 0.782 here).
New laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed by me. Ports forwarded. Firewall turned off. I can connect with hubs, but problems with users. Mainly doesn't work as active but as passive also. 'invalid request' or 'connection timeout'. Sometimes, as atm example works with 1 user but am sure for few moment will be connection broken with that user.
I thought my ISP has something broken, but on my old laptop with XP SP3 and 0.699 everything is fine ! I wonder what could be a problem ? Compatibility with XP enable.

plz help.

ps. yea.. as I thought. Just finished downloading file from 1 user, and next files will not start dl, because 'invalid request'.

Do you have any 3rd party security software installed?

eMTee: i got only windows firewall and windows defender. Firewall disabled and still the same. I don't have any others security programs. System has 1,5 week. uTorrent works ok, I don't use at the same time with DC++. Maybe uTorrent alpha version makes some problem, but I don't think so...

I just installed ApexDC and... there working nice. In Bind panel I changed on 1.0.0.5, this is IP of my laptop. In DC++ i wrote the same IP in expert mode panel, but nothing... Maybe i should install fresh DC++ and set up all settings once again ?

Well... I have removed DC++ and now I installed fresh in new directory. It working now ! When I have copied files from old laptop to here I moved whole directory then installed new DC++ (i needed whole queue, favs, filelists etc) and so I think it made a problem.
Thanks, no problem now ! Fixed.

You did the right way and upgrade should not cause problems like this. However if you copied the old settings under the Program Files folder, DC++ could have problems properly accessing them because of the FAQ I linked.

Try to copy your old settings to the AppData/DC++ folder directly, so they might be imported well.
FAQ #92: “I am using Vista or Windows 7 and can't find my downloaded files or settings. Where are they?”.

Another problem can be that if you copied your old settings directly from your old hard disk, then their old owner is copied so DC++ couldn't read them running in user mode.
If this is the case then you need to alter the correct rights to the old settings files (recommended) or you should start DC++ as Administrator in the first time, when it imports the old settings.
