Unable to search on DC++

Asked by Scrantastic

I've tried to search for an answer already, and nothing has helped me so far. I've had this problem for a few weeks now, and I use a Gigafast router, so I've been unable to search on a hub. I can download lists no problem, but I just can't search. And this is the only program I am currently having problems with. I've tried to change my static ip, etc, to no avail. I've tried EVERYTHING.

TEST 1 - Operating System Support - PASSED
TEST 2 - SSDP Service Running Check - PASSED
TEST 3 - SSDP Service Automatic Check - PASSED
TEST 4 - UPnPHost Service Running Check - PASSED
TEST 5 - UPnPHost Service Automatic Check - PASSED
TEST 6 - UPnP Framework Firewall Exception Check - PASSED
TEST 7 - Adapter #0 - FAILED
TEST 8 - Get External IP Address - FAILED

Help? What can I do to fix this?

What is the DC++ that you are currently using & OS as in XP, Vista or Windows 7?

If you are currently using the latest version, DC++ 0.761 & Windows 7, this might be the answer to your question with redirect links:

What version of DC++ are you using?

Windows 7 & Vista have similar configurations on active mode. If you have 1,2,3,4,5,6 passed & 7,8 failed, you need port forwarding by going to http://www.portforward.com. On PortForward's page, look for the make & model of your router. Here's an example, 2Wire (Make) 2701 HG-B (Model). To find out your router, look for the make & model if your modem is near or next to your PC.

I've tried port forwarding already and nothing helps, I used the latest version of dcc and that's the one that I noticed problems on, so I went back to an earlier version 699 - and still nothing.

Did you go through the faq about search problems in the built-in Help (or at http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/webhelp/faq_nosearch.html) ??

you want to give more details to get help.
an educated guess is that you have properly forwarded your TCP port in your router settings but have forgotten the UDP one. then again there can be many other causes, all outlined in eMTee's link.

I had a similar problem like you when I was using Vista 3 years ago. See if this would work.

Windows Firewall Settings, make sure the General is Off, Exceptions for DC++ is checkmark, hit Apply & OK. Make sure your anti-virus is enabled so you are not vulnerable to hackers, malicious software, viruses & create an allow rule for DC++.

To find out your IP address, go to http://www.canyouseeme.org & enter any port number. DC++ TCP/UDP default port number is 1412 but you can also use these numbers from 1024 through 65536. While DC++ TLS/TCP port number should be various & between 1024 through 32768. Here's an example, DC++ TCP/UDP is both default port number 1412 while TLS/TCP is 19200. Just an idea, you can use any number on the previous sentence.

Try this page to make another re-test: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/using/tools/igd/default.mspx

Go to Control Panel, Network/Sharing Center & turn On Network Discovery.

Active mode on Windows 7 has the same configuration as Vista.

Can you help with this problem?
