Can't download from one user

Asked by puzzled

I've run into a bit of an interesting problem. I'm having trouble downloading from one particular user. The user shows he is using v.699 and he is on passive mode. I'm using .689 and running active. This problem has been going on for quite sometime now. I've just been downloading from other people so I haven't thought all that much about yet. I figured I would ask now so I might be able to eliminate the problem.

I can download from other people fine. I can't download his list or any other files from him. It shows that I'm trying to connect to him and then it finally goes to 'Connection Timeout' and then restarts the process again. Also, when I search for files I know he has, I have them quequed up from him, he doesn't come across as being a match. He hasn't removed filed from his list as his list has continued to grow and he has always been real good about keeping his list intact and just adding to it for past couple of years now.

What could be causing this problem and what can I do about it. I think I have most everything from him that I want downloaded but I just need a few more files to finish it off.

Thanks

What versions of DC++ are supported in this Answers page? https://answers.launchpad.net/dcplusplus/+faq/589

The DC++ version that you & the other user using is no longer getting any help support. I would recommend for you & the other user that you are downloading to upgrade to the latest version of DC++.

Well that works great until you run into hubs where they won't allow users to use anything from .690 and up or strong dc 2.0 and up on their hub. Then it becomes a bit of a problem. You get banned from using their hub. When they have users that have files your trying to get it kinda defeats the purpose of having a newer version.

I would pretty much tend to think that this would be the same across all version of the program given the problem in question.

I am banned or can't connect from one or more hubs. Can you help me? https://answers.launchpad.net/dcplusplus/+faq/90

If this have something to do with segmented downloads, then there's a feature where you can disable on the Advance features if you are using the latest version of DC++. TTH (Tiger Tree Hash) files is much faster, has improved, search alternate sources, recheck integrity, etc.

Here's the changelog link of DC++ to find out the latest changes: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/%7Edcplusplus-team/dcplusplus/trunk/annotate/head%3A/changelog.txt

This launchpad no longer has help support on old DC++ versions. If you run into a hub where they ban you for using new client, try connecting to other hubs. If you don't want to upgrade, then you want to dwell & live in the past.

Can you help with this problem?
