actually, ALL of them are grey instead of black: writer, calc, draw.

i changed it to black in styles in one document. but once you start a new document, it reverts to gray.

maybe you can't see it. but if you print it, it should be visibile.

have you tried what i did in the sample document?

type text and use the default font colour. then type another set of they then apply black to it.

Okay. I tested this out.

I installed libreoffice from the software center. The font colour of "automatic" is black.

I ran libreoffice from the CD in trial mode. The font colour of "automatic" is grey.

Something probably happened to change the automatic colour when the interface was redesigned to enable the global menu in unity.

I can confirm this bug with Libreoffice 3.5 on Ubuntu Natty.

Changing the text color to black solves the problem. It displays automatically black text on white blackground and white text on black or blue background.

I am also affected by this bug. I run the updated version of Lubuntu 12.04 beta 2 and LibreOffice 3.5.1.2, Build ID: 350m1(Build:102). If I create a text-string which is formatted with automatic text color it is grey. I can easily perceive the difference if I hard-format that string with black text-color, afterwards.

Same problem using LibreOffice v3.5.3.2 with Ubuntu 12.04. I just freshly installed my system. And if I print it or export the document to PDF, the gray color is preserved.
