Inkscape V 0.47; Windows XP Professional, German, SP3; Printer HP DJ 6980, Canon IP4200, and several others. Independent of printer model and printers' default settings and document settings, when printing, any defaults are changed to page size LETTER and must be manually re-changed in order to print successfully. Behaviour did not exist in V 0.46, which I used until recently.

Sorry, forgot to mention, that page size is affected in settings of the printer driver, not in Inkscape. The document settings remain o.k.!

Could this be an upstream GTK+ bug in the Windows GtkPrint backend?

Problem stays in 0.48. With any printer I tried, even PDF printer (PDFCreator 0.9.3).

Windows 7, HP Deskjet 6980

The page size is A4 in document settings, but becomes LETTER in print dialog.

The printout is distorted so picture center does not line up with center of paper, and of course, some part of picture goes out of page.

The worse is, that I cannot change page size, because after any change it doesn't print at all.

Sadly, it is very inconvenient to use Inkscape without printing (perhaps since 0.46, I can't remember exactly). I'm using each new version once - only to see the same bug remains.

PDF created from inkscape is good and prints well.

I have the same Problem:

The page size is A4 in document settings, but becomes LETTER in print dialog.

Have to stop using Inkscape due to this if it is not fixed!!

As Suv wrote:

Bug 505123 ( https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=505123):
"What's sent to the printer for paper-size is either not
rounded up to the mm or is not "A4". Some printers then choose the "next
lowest" paper-size and some allow a user-defined paper-size and try to print
using the exact paper-size. As this paper size is usually not available each
printer/driver will then react different according to its options. Some may
print, some may ask for paper, some may ask for a decision which paper to use,
some may not print at all ...
And as it is not the correct paper size that is sent to the printer driver it
can never stick, of course.
So, with that information I think it should be much easier to fix this, I hope."
