Bug Description

This is a new version of snapd.

The changelog is available here https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/blob/2.60/packaging/ubuntu-16.04/changelog, the raw git changelog is available here: https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/commits/2.60 (note that the debian changelog is auto-generated from the merges of the git commits so there is usually no need to look at the raw git commits).

The snappy team released a new release that we want SRU into bionic+. The process described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SnapdUpdates was used and we have done integration-tests on the snappy images, autopkgtests on classic and unit tests.

GitHub Actions test runs can be found at https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/actions?query=branch%3Arelease%2F2.62

Since bionic has reached end of standard support I assume the reference to it in the bug description is an accident.

Hello Michael, or anyone else affected,

Accepted snapd into lunar-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/2.60.2+23.04 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-lunar to verification-done-lunar. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-lunar. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

In jammy I notice there is a delta to the packaging:

This was not present in the lunar upload. And the comment about debhelper >= 11.5 isn't material, we actually have >= 11.5 all the way back to focal. So why is this being added?

It's also not a new service, the file is present in snapd 2.58+22.04.

Packaging changes should be explained separately in an SRU. I am not confident that the effect of enabling a new systemd user unit by default will have been covered by CI given that it only affects user sessions.

The version of snapd in the proposed pocket of Lunar that was purported to fix this bug report has been removed because the bugs that were to be fixed by the upload were not verified in a timely (105 days) fashion.
