Bug Description

Note: I'm not sure if this is the right project for this bug report.

Phone bq Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition
OS Ubuntu 15.04 (r23)

There's no audible warning when the battery charge is very low. Only way to know about the low charge is by looking at the phone screen.

but the length of the noise should be configurable; some 15 years ago I have had an old mobile which spent the rest of the energy in playing the warning :-)

Dominik (dominalien) wrote 1 hour ago: #3
I suppose it might beep (configurable sound?) once at 10%, then at 5% and after that every 10 minutes, by default. With an option for beeping every 20, 10, 5 and 2 minutes after the 5% mark.

All this when the screen is off, of course. A visual cue should be enough if the screen is on.

Many thanks for taking care about this bug. 😃
Please notice that having 'screen on' does not necessarily mean a user is looking at the phone. IMO the sound notification should not depend on the state of the phone screen.

The 'low battery sound' attachment contains the file suggested by Jouni Helminen for fixing this ticket

Thanks Charles&Jouni, could you give info about the author and license for that new sound?

So currently the ubuntu-touch-sounds package has 2 directories, "notifications" and "ringtones", the notifications are listed in the messaging sound choice and the alarm, where ringtones is listed by the dialer sound choice ...

we could either add that to "notifications" and have it listed in the UIs previously mentioned, or install it in another directory/as a private technical detail (in which case maybe it would be better to ship it with the indicator if it's specific to it)

I would like some design input on that before uploading

(oh, and reply on IRC to the previous question, Jouni created the file and it's under the same license that the other sounds already included
