Resolution
==========

This issue cannot be fixed in Nuvola Player.

From FAQ #2345  Problematic Versions of Libraries
<https://answers.launchpad.net/nuvola-player/+faq/2345 >:

Because of a bug in WebKitGtk 1.8.x (Debian 7, Ubuntu 12.04),
Grooveshark is loaded only partially with large empty orange area. Upgrade to WebKitGtk 1.10.x. or contact support of your distribution to request backport of the fix.

Original report
===============

- I use Debian amd64
- I'm using the Debian Testing Repos
- I've installed nuvola through the Debian repos (stable version for Testing/Sid)
- In the repos I included the name flash and follow the instructions detailed before reporting the bug. This solution doesn't solve anything for me.
. I've tried to delete all the configurations files to start from the beginning but doesn't work.

The problems is that when you open grooveshark the screen get orange and any other element is loaded on the screen. You can check next picture:

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/2100/c1p.png

- When I execute nuvolaplayer through the terminal the output that I get next output:

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. However, I need more
information to investigate it further.

Which version of WebKitGtk do you have installed? You can use following command:

aptitude show libwebkitgtk-3.0-0

Is the issue reproducible in WebKit GtkLauncher?

/usr/lib/webkitgtk-3.0-0/libexec/GtkLauncher \

(Ubuntu 12.10) and 1.10.2-0ubuntu1 (Ubuntu 13.04). Since the issue is
not caused by a bug in Nuvola Player itseld, I'm closing this bug

contact support of your distribution to request backport of the fix.
Thanks for your feedback though.

for me the solution that proposed jiri was not useful. use debian testing and to do what he proposed means that i have to install packages of the experimental branch of debian.

in addition the dependencies of the package that you have to replace are high.

You can use clementine. Works well with grooveshark.

Package libwebkitgtk-3.0-0 to version 1.10.x. I don't use Ubuntu, so I
have no idea what PPA to add. Also, I don't know whether it is
possible to upgrade on your system at all. (It is a common issue of
Linux package management: if you particular distribution release
contains a library with a bug, you are usually screwed until the next
release.)

> Furthermore, would it be a good idea to specify the fixed version of webkit as dependency in a newer version of Nuvola? So when people install, they get the fix as well.

No, the Nuvola Player package cannot depend on a package version that
is not available in the default repositories. It would make the Nuvola
Player package non-installable.

I just upgraded ligwebkitgtk3.0 and its dependences by adding for the moment one of the Quantal repositories

Nuvola player is working fine now.
Soon I'll see if whole Ubuntu works as well ;)

Besides, eOS is based on Ubuntu 12.04 (and will stay so for some time) so this is the only solution I know of that fixes Nuvola.

For me, this problem didn't show up until about 2 weeks ago, before which I was fine. I thought it was a temporary thing (network problems, perhaps), so I'm just now trying to find a fix for it. Google brought me here, and according to the "resolution" (it's a problem with WebKitGTK 1.8.x), I shouldn't be having this problem.

I'm on the Stable Nuvolaplayer branch. Output of "aptitude show libwebkitgtk-3.0-0" is below.

Ubuntu 13.04 is Raring, not Saucy. (Packages for Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy
are available in unstable PPA though.)
