Bug Description

Super + P is a default videout out key event sent from BIOS when user press Videout Funciton key in HP and Dell laptops (according Windows 7 requirement).

Because unity has top priority to catch the key event, so videout function key will be broken if user install unity-lens-photo.

For Using Super+P as a default videout hotkey history, Please read https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/539477 to get more details.

Solution:
The Photos lens should use Super+C (for Camera), which is obviously less intuitive than Super+P, but seems a decent alternative.

Waiting for design input on a new hotkey for the lens. I suggest using Super+C for Camera.

When I press Fn-F8, which is the external display toggle hotkey, on a Dell laptop with the photo lens installed, the photo lens will be opened. Photo lens is also a default install for Quantal.

Super+p is the only way to tell Windows 8 to switch to external display. So it's expected that the hotkey on all laptops released with Windows 8 sends out the same Super+p. This is a conflict to the design of BIOS for all Windows 8 computers.

When unity-lens-photo package is removed, Fn-F8 will become a "p" key (since super key is consumed by Unity). Extern display hot key is still an issue for Quantal, but this is another bug in compiz/unity (bug 741869 and bug 950160)

The shopping lens issue should be fixed by removing the shortcut (bug 1058604).

The problem with the photo lens still needs to be addressed.

I think we can update the documentation by downloading all the .po's, doing a sed replace on them and checking the results carefully. If so, this shouldn't impact the translation teams.

The Ubuntu Manual also is nearly frozen but I didn't see these keyboard shortcuts mentioned in my quick check of their content.

I'm not completely convinced this is the right choice as it breaks consistency:
* Currently all of the lenses are arranged alphabetically, at least in English.
* And currently all of the keyboard shortcuts match the first letter of the lens name.
* "Photo lens" or "pictures lens" sounds better than "camera lens"
* If we were to change the lens name, then we would probably want to update the source package and project names to match, but I guess we won't be changing the lens name.

On the other hand, consistency with Windows is good too.

I guess I'll give it a +1 and I can make the change when I do the ubuntu-docs upload in a few days.

Also, as Translations Freeze is next Tuesday, we are at the absolutely last possible minute for making UI changes, tweaks, or bugfixes.

It does affect translations, but I think this is a feature change that
shouldn't be blocking on them and the decision should be made by a more
relevant team (Desktop perhaps?).

So +1 for translations, but please apply it asap if it is approved and
the shortcut changes, so it can be translated on time.

Cheers,
David.
