Add more options to Schedule settings

Asked by BWPanda

I'd like to make a feature request to add some more options to the Schedule settings, specifically 'Every 12 hours' and/or 'Every 6 hours'.

This is because my computer is rarely on at midnight, and until a feature is implemented to allow running a backup at a specific time (and even after such a feature is included), I think this is a simple and effective solution...

The project is still maintained, however not by many people (still a young project)... So especially last months some questions could not be answered. Sorry for that.

About your question. Nice idea, do you think that scheduling it two or four times a day has many advantages over every hour? It sounds like you have your computer on for a few hours a day. Having a backup every hour then is I think more reliable (otherwise you might miss the backup then). As BackinTime works with hardlinks to older snapshots for files that are not modified, having more backups do not consume more space.

I tried hourly backups previously (and have had to go back to using them just now), but prefer not to if possible as it slows down the computer, which is understandable, but to have that happen every hour is annoying...

I'd provide a patch myself but am not really a programmer. Giving users a few more options can't be too hard right ;)

No it is not really hard to do, if I have some spare time I will have a
look, but as I am running really low in time nowadays that might take a
while. If anybody else is interested??? Would be nice to combine it with the
dcron bug anyway...

Cheers,
Bart
