Sync error: Astrid and RTM

Asked by Nilz

I've a problem with Astrid on my Droid: it stopped syncing to RTM!

I get an error message: "Connection problem. Check your internet connection" and "No wrapped connection."
Sometimes Astrid asks me to authorize at RTM. I did it again, and I also reintalled the app.

Same problem.

Switching to flightmode and using just WiFi doesn't help either.

Any ideas??

Thanks!
Nilz

Yes, same problem here as well. Seems like this started on my droid after the 2.0.1 update. I've looked at RTM, and they don't indicate any problems and can update on the web fine.

I do see a status saying there is "Site Slowness". Not sure what this means, but wondering if they could be related?

Or RTM just cut the API for Astrid in order to push their own RTM Android app sales which comes with the 25$ p.a. RTM Pro account...

Hi! I've been using the RTMJava library for an Android application i developed myself which synchronizes tasks with rememberthemilk.

It worked perfectly since this weekend and now it does not connect properly to the RTM service. I get the following exception: "Error making connection: Service invocation failed. Code: -1; message: unexpected response returned by RTM service: html"

At first I thought RTM might have invalidated my application API key but i've tried with a new one and the problem persists.

Thanks to google I got to this forum and it looks like it is a problem that affects everyone :(

If anyone has solved please say something! :S

Wondering if it's something with RTM. I am now able to sync again. I've done this several times and it syncs as before.

This bug is not resolved for me.

I am on a verizon moto droid running 2.0.1.

I had been using the RTM app with no issues until today when they locked me out of the app and asked $25 to continue using it. Instead I decided to switch to the free Astrid app, but was unable to sync with my RTM account, getting the connection error mentioned above.

I am able to access my account via the RTM website.

I uninstalled the RTM app on my phone, and reinstalled Astrid, which did not resolve my issue. I have tried synchronizing while using wifi and 3g, with no positive results.

Help!

As an aside, a Conspiracy Theory:

Anyone else think this is just a ploy by RTM to push users into spending $25 (PER YEAR!!!) for the "pro" version of RTM's own android app?

To me, that seems like a heinous amount to charge, considering the pricing norms on both iTunes and Android Market, and considering what you get for that price: an [admittedly well-made and full-featured] todo list with online backup.

The advertised 'benefits' of upgrading to pro are flimsy at best. "Priority support via email" is insultingly vague, not to mention that I would expect little or no need for support when paying $25—per year—for rather basic and straightforward end-user functionality. And the "new features" listed are merely the previously-free device-specific widgets and apps. Give me a break. Any "warm fuzzy" feelings I may have enjoyed from supporting a creative independent developer would be overcome by about $15 after the first year.

Charge me $10 (maybe even $15-25) ONCE or I'll get my warm fuzzy feelings elsewhere.

My current todo list:
1. Find a more affordable todo list

RTM has temporarily stopped the API use effecting 3rd Party Services such as Astrid.

Hopefully it is not a conspiracy and they figure out what is going and and return the service.

http://status.rememberthemilk.com/

API temporarily unavailable

Due to issues with the API that are causing slowness across the Remember The Milk service, we’ve had to temporarily disable API access until we’ve tracked down and resolved these issues. This will affect any third-party services or applications that use the API. We hope to resolve this soon, and will be posting any updates here; we apologise for any inconvenience in the meantime.
