Kubuntu 15.04 freezes after login

Asked by kocagoncu

Updated to Kubuntu 15.04 from 14.10 a couple of weeks back. Everything was fine.

Today I got "ACPI PCC probe failed, starting version 219" message and it wasn't booting.
I tried numerous things and currently system gives "Starting Version 219" message while booting, then sign on screen comes up.
And shortly after signing in, the screen freezes; I can move the cursor with mouse but can't click on anything; also I can get into tty mode by Ctrl-Alt-F1.

KDE Plasma: 5.2.2
Qt: 5.4.1
Shell: 3.19.0-21-generic
OS: 64 bit

Thanks in advance.

"ACPI PCC probe failed" and "starting version 219" are just informational messages and indicate normal operation of some steps in the boot process.

The root cause of your problems must be something different.

What make and model is your system, what video adapter?
Are you able to boot into recovery mode?
