Which Latex Package(s) Needed for Equation Editor?

Asked by Sam Snow

Just upgraded from Zim 0.28 to Zim 0.43 on Debian Squeeze. It's taking some sorting out after upgrading some large notebooks, but I'm enjoying the new version.

I've never used the Equation Editor, but I'd like to do so. The Preferences dialog for turning on the plugins says that I need "latex" and "dvipng". I cannot find a "latex" package per se in the Debian testing repositories. Can someone give me a more specific name for the package or packages that I need?

Thanks!

I'll answer myself. I'm doing that a lot these days.

I thought I might get by with installing something small. I just decided that I shouldn't be bother hard-working folks with stuff like this and installed livetex (and, of course, dvipng).

Works beautifully. This is really a fantastic little application.

Well, not so little now that I've installed texlive and all of its dependencies. But that's certainly not Zim's fault.
