PPA and debs for pyzim

Asked by Bart de Koning

Hey,

Thanks for this very convenient note tracker!
I was wondering wether it would be possible to create a PPA for pyzim? I bump into quite some bugs that appear to be solved in the new pyzim branch. I know that that one is still in the alpha phase, however it might be nice to be able to install it and supply updates for it fast and easily for everyone. It will also be easier then to give you help on getting it into release state. If I am right the only thing we have to do is open a PPA and upload a source package.

I know that making .debs is on your wishlist: to be able to install pyzim in a safe way on my system I made them already according to a fast howto that I found here: http://ghantoos.org/2008/10/19/creating-a-deb-package-from-a-python-setuppy/#setuppy
I will upload my modifications (debian/ files and a Makefile) in a separate branch soon.

Cheers

For release versions I have a .deb on the zim download site, not (yet) in
PPA. For the current alpha version I didn't release a deb on purpose, it is
really not ready for public consumption.

However I'm working to release a beta soonish which should be stable
enough. That would be a good moment to also release a .deb package.

Sounds good, let me know when it is ready to merge.
