Zim

Idea: Copy of Image instead link

Asked by dariuszszymanski

Hello,
I am a new Zim user. I discovered that for making very simple notes Zim is ideal for me. Ideal, except adding and storing images.

By option Insert->Image we can easily add image to note.

Unfortunately when we would like to open the same notes tree on another computer, then we cannot see the picture.
It's not weird. Zim adds only absolute path to image, so after change user account, computer or system we cannot see picture because we haven't got a source file.
In my opinion better case is when Zim could add relative path instead absolute path, and every addition of picture (and also moving from one tree level to another) should make a copy (or movement).

Advantage of this feature is that our notes repository is consistent even if we run Zim on another computer.
Disadvantage is surely more memory usage. We have to store all images in directory.
Abovementioned feature could be a additional option, not replacement for existing implementation of Insert->Image.

What do you think about it?
