Disabling Alphabetical Ordering

Asked by Tim Kruse

Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to disable the alphabetical ordering of pages and sub-pages in Zim. I would like the pages to stay in the order the are created along the side-pane, which I believe should be the default setting anyway, as it appeals to common sense.

sincerely, tim

Yes this has indeed been a request by many people before.

However, there has not been any interest in the developers regarding implementing this.

To implement your personal order, you could create pages by prepending them with numbers, so e.g. create pages like: 10_TODOs, 20_Projects, 30_Life etc. and your pages will be ordered accordingly.

Initially, this might appear odd to you, but this will turn out to be a better HABIT. You will get a habit of naming documents properly so that you don't have to align them. This has been the case with me. Earlier, while using Zim, this ordering really annoyed me but now I am just loving it.

As Shivam mentioned currently there is no support for alternative ordering. Not completely true that there is not interest, but still on the "to do" list for development.
