auto-formatting for equation pluging

I use quite a lot the equation plugin which is based on LaTeX. It would be very convenient for me if an auto-formatting functionality were available for equations. The natural choice would be to insert the equation between "$", as it is done in LaTeX for equations in line. I do not know how much work this implies but it will be very useful to me. Thank you for all the work that has been done for zim, a tool which I really appreciate!

That would be the request in bug #347326. It is on my list, but requires a lot of code changes, so will be mid to long term development.
