Split view?

Asked by jumpwah

Sorry if this has already been asked before, but couldn't find anything..

Is there a way to have split view? I would love to be able to say view another page of my notes whilst making/editing another one. I wonder if this is already possible by running zim with another instance, say two windows?

But I wasn't sure how to do that and if it would have any effect on say the autosaving in zim, like what would happen if I edit from both windows etc.

But if there isn't a way to already do this, I probably wouldn't recommend taking time to implement this just for my sake (assuming it's probably complicated), I already do this via (html) exporting the appropriate page/notebook and viewing it in a browser window next to the zim window.

Afraid that is currently not possible. You can open a note in a separate
window (see the right click menu in the index), but the window will be
read-only.

There is an open feature request for this, and preliminary work to make it
possible is ongoing.

Actually, opening a note in a new window is exactly what I wanted, I just assumed it would be editable as well. However, I only needed read only. Wonderful. This saves me from exporting everytime, (opening in text editors don't display my (latex equation) images).

My use case is basically, I'll take random notes first, kind of like a brainstorm over various pages. But later, I'll say write a summarized form of multiple pages of notes into one final page, which is much easier to revise over later and is more structured and concise.

And I didn't see that feature request so sorry about this.

PS - Thanks for the quick reply. :)
