Zim

Pulgin dependencies for usb ( portable )

Asked by launchpad

I've installed Zim Portable on usb (Windows Vista) , and am curious if I can install/unzip the dependencies such as GraphViz, Ditaa, scrot in the USB, and make zim to search for the commandlines in a specified folder.

I've tried searching for tutorials for making the dependencies available for zim portable in windows to no avail. I'm aware they require the commandlines to be in the system path. However I want it to be available in the usb itself.

I'm aware of just using portable linux, but I do most of my work in windows. So is there a better way of doing this?
Thanks for the help!

Tl;dr: is it possible to make dependcies (Graphviz, Ditaa, scrot), work on zim portable without installing them into the system and unzipping the files in the usb? (Windows)

Yes the executables need to be in the path. So the real question is:
how to include a folder on the USB stick in the path? What you could
do is create a .bat file that adds a folder to the PATH variable and
then starts zim. That

"What you could do is create a .bat file that adds a folder to the PATH variable and then starts zim. "

Wouldn't this be a problem with some machines requiring admin privileges to modify system path. (My priveleges are restricted). I'm still not sure what I should do here, and what commands to put in the bat file. Is there a way to do this locally on the usb.

Wikidpad has the option for the user to give the location of plugin dependencies (Graphviz).
Is there a way to make zim to search for plugin dependencies in a specified folder. Maybe modify an ini or py file?
Or should I post this under feature request?

No you don't need admin to do this in a BAT file. Please search the
internet for some examples how to write a simple BAT file.

Yes that would be a feature request, please put it in the bug tracker.
