Zim

Possibility to open a note directly

Asked by sojusnik

Hi!

Is there a way to open a certain note in Zim from f.i. gnome-shell? Normally you would launch Zim and then via Ctrl+J go to the desired note.

Best wishes!

Yes, just do "zim [notebook] [page]" - see "zim --help" for more options :)

I know, that a page can be opened directly from the terminal, but is there a way that notes from zim are indexed f.i. in the gnome-shell and then could be opened by typing their name in the gnome-shell search box, like launching applications or indexed files in nautilus?

By gnome-shell I mean this http://browse.deviantart.com/art/Gnome-Shell-Elegance-263626995, not the terminal aka shell.

Probably you should ask that question to the Gnome Shell people than.
I don't know what their mechanism is to know about application
bindings.

For Ubuntu Unity there is a "zeitgeist" plugin that advertises zim to
Unity, but IIRC Gnome decided to use something else and not zeitgeist.
