Zim

Insert link quickly

Asked by Anton Zayats

While there is no tags in Zim (with them it will be almost perfect!) I use links to tag my notes.
My tags live in namespace Tags and can have 2-3-4 level tree structure (Tags>Products>Product_A, Tags>Subject>HowTo etc). So I've done some quick note, put it into a Calendar namespace (lets say June, 22) or into a Project namespace and want to add references to Product_A and HowTo (which are obviously Tags). Now I have to scroll down in index view, look at my Tags namespace, find the proper tag in the tree and then drag'n'drop it or write the whole path to this tag.
This is very slow, unfriendly and error-prone. Perhaps, it is not the intended usage. Please, share your experience or how-to insert links quicker.
There was a similar question #49794 two years ago, but I can't understand what was the solution.

PS: I still need a feature described in bug # 426771

In your case probably the quickest way is to hit ^L for the "Insert Link" dialog and start typing ":Tags". The colon in the front will force completion from the top level namespace, so you will be able to complete to the right target page quickly.

Thanks, Jaap. This seems to be the quickest way.
