netbook sync possible with zim and pyzim?

Asked by arod

I've been using zim for almost an year sharing (syncing with unison) the same notebook between my netbook and desktop. The netbook is running UNR 9.10 while the desktop is running debian unstable. Both pcs used zim (perl). No issues so far and great satisfactions.
Now I upgraded to pyzim (0.46) on the desktop while the netbook is still running the perl version. Can I still share my netbook or should I expect troubles?
Thanks!

The python version will ask you to upgrade the notebook. If you do
this the format used will no longer be compatible with the perl
version. But even without this upgrade I'm afraid there are small
changes between the versions that can cause trouble. (This kind of
compatibility has not been top of the list due to limited man power --
as long as we are not 1.0 there will be the occasional break in
backward compatibility.)

Probably you can get it to work with some hacks, but it will be much
easier when using the same release on both systems. You could try
installing the unofficial ubuntu package on the netbook.
