Tracking edited files on remote files sytems

I work mostly on files in ssh fs mounts. While local files edited in gedit show up in my activity journal these files do not, how can I record details of these files being edited?

Can you provide me a sample path of a file. How should the file path look like. Sorry I don't have much experience with ssh fs

Thanks for your reply, looking again my original question was wrongly phrased. I'm working on files over sftp not sshfs. The question I suppose then is the possibility of recording files being edited in gedit over sftp. The path is sftp://<email address hidden>/home/dev
