How does one add comments to media?

I want to add comments to media on the site. I see some media that has comments added, but have found no way to add comments myself. The "Add new comment" links appear to simply link to the specific page of the media added, and there appears to me no method to add a comment on said pages. In addition, for media which already has a comment, the "Add new comment" link becomes a "Comments (x)" link, which links to the specific file's page, displays what comments there are, and also provides no way to add a comment. So far I've attempted on WinVista via Chrome, IE, and Firefox, careful to log in before each attempt... the "Add New Media" links which should be on the front page are also missing, and I'm pretty sure I had that option before.

The only thing I've imagined that could be causing this is my lack of able-to-post status on the main site's forum, but it could easily be a technical issue I'm unaware of. Obviously the features have worked for some. I also searched the Media Project sub-forum in an attempt to find other information on this issue, to no avail; I'd post about it, but I can't, yet.

If this isn't the case, then I think necessitating posting-able status on the main site for the ability to add media to the Media Project is actually a good idea, despite it not helping my personal situation.

The permissions on the Media Project are tied to those on the main site's forum. If one has the ability to post on the main forum, they have the ability to post media/comments on the Media Project. Similarly, if one does not have the ability to post on the main forum, they cannot post media/comments on the Media Project.

You mentioned that you don't currently have post-able status on the main site's forum. This is probably the reason you are unable to post comments on the Media Project. Have you tried posting media as well, or just comments? If you're able to post media but not comments, there might be a bug.

I think I previously had the option to add media, closer to when the site was first announced, but I never used it, and I no longer see it. This may have simply been a bug from earlier in the beta phase of the site; I'm sure the Media Project mods would get tons of trolling/spam entries otherwise.

This makes sense, though; I can't post, so I can't add comments, and I can't add media. Perhaps it would be helpful to remove the "Add new comment" link for users such as myself, who have an account but do not have posting permission, to avoid future confusion. (Or even to add that users who do not have posting permission cannot comment or add media to the FAQ, though this obviously isn't "Frequently Asked" judging by this site.)
