measuring lateral force

Hi everybody ,
I'm look forward to find a way to measure the lateral force. when there is just vertical force how can I measure the lateral force?

Hello,

we're look forward to find a definition of "the lateral force".
When there is just vertical force, isn't the lateral force simply zero?
