Bond plasticity

Asked by Shubham Agarwal

Hi
I am new to the platform
I wish to model a fiber network with plastic fibers. Fiver network will be subjected to both tensile and compressive stresses periodically. Is it possible to model bond plasticity using Yade?

Thanks

Hello

> I am new to the platform

welcome :-)

Please describe more in detail the problem, e.g.:
- will the fibers interact with each other?
- why do you want to use Yade (or DEM in general) and not other methods (e.g. FEM)?
- what is "plasticity"? simple Mohr-Coulomb condition, or something more advanced?
- fibers are subjected only to plasticity, or they can be broken?
- ...

thanks
Jan

Hi
Following is more detailed explanation of my model:

- Yes fibers can interect with each other, if they come in contact.
- I want to model the fiber network using DEM since modeling the fiber failure is more convenient in DEM setup as compared to FE based one (based on my literature review).
-I wish to incorporate elasto plastic constitutive law in my model. For instance a bi-linear elastoplastic law with with kinematic hardening rule (Bauschinger effect).
-Fibers can be broken once they satisfy the failure criteria

Thanks

In general it sounds feasible (involving some implementation).
I am not sure (I don't use this part of Yade) if it is available right away.
cheers
