Cylindrical Triaxial Test

Asked by Nima Goudarzi

Hi,

I am wondering to know if the cylindrical triaxial test yet to be developed or someone has already done it using YADE?

Thanks,

Hello,

it depends on the definition of "the cylindrical triaxial test".
Confined compression of cylindrical sample was discussed several times on Yade forum.
Have a look at [1] for a specific example.

For different loading scenario, basically you would need:
- create cylindrical specimen
- create cylindrical boundaries using facets or boxes
- apply load (either prescribed displacement/velocity or stress/forces) on the boundaries
All the steps are possible and should not be too difficult to manage "by hand".

cheers
Jan

Hi Jan,

Thanks a lot for the response. You are right. My only concern is the need for a servo-control mechanism like the one implemented in the original triaxial script (developed by Brono). Do I need to develop one? Does your script benefit fro such a mechanism.

Regards
