Problems with yade-daily in Linux Mint 18.3 'Sylvia'

Asked by Marcello Goulart Teixeira

Hi,

The installation page of YADE says the prerequisites are checked before the compilation starts. I didn't see any message about this during the installation, but when I tried to update the prerequisites with

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yade-users/external

the message is something like

"This PPP n \ xc3 \ xa3o supports xenial '
Could not add PPA: '' This PPA n \ xc3 \ xa3o supports xenial"

Is it possible to istall yade-daily in a Linux Mint 18.3 'Sylvia' version? Or the best to do is install a Linux Ubunto?

Regards,
Marcello

Hi,
Installing yade-daily (in fact yadedaily) and compiling yade from sources are two different things (as explained in installation page). In your question the two things are a bit mixed.
It is certainly possible to compile yade on Linux Mint.
It may not be possible to install the precompiled package "yadedaily" (I don't know, really, if linux mint is really based on xenial it should be possible).

And yes, the ppa repository was for older versions, you don't need that.

Please be specific on what you are trying to achieve. There is in fact no part related to installation in your message...

Hi Bruno.

I'll try to be more specific. Yade and yadedaily are istalled in my computer. I'm trying to run some scripts I've already run in another computer but all I get now are error messages, like

NameError: global name 'JCFpmMat' is not defined
or
NameError: name 'Vector3' is not defined

So I tried to compile yadedaily and re-install the external softwares, as I wrote above.

Maybe I have to look for another direction to solve these problems, but I'm (little) lost.

Wow! You can actually start the yade program but you asked how to install it?
Again be more specific... you need to show typed commands and output. The above question + #2 makes absolutely no sense to me.

Can you help with this problem?
