Engine about coupling DEM with FEM

Asked by Kun Zeng

I read one paper from Jan Stransky "COMBINATION OF FEM AND DEM WITH APPLICATION TO RAILWAY BALLAST-SLEEPER INTERACTION" and I notice in this paper. He simulated some nonsphere particle ballast contacting with sleeper. I was wondering
which engine Jan used to do the contact detection? I mean the engine part in the code. Thanks.

Hello,
have a look at [1]. For the example you mentioned, because it is just an illustrative example, I used spherical particles and default Yade engines, i.e. [2]. I can add an example with polyhedra if you are interested.
cheers
Jan

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your information. Can you add an example with polyhedra in the github? I am going to learn and do some simualtion related to the polyhedra particle in DEM and FEM coupling. Thanks.

Regards,
Kun
