Modelling Seismic Wave Propagation

Asked by hala El Fil

Hi,

I am starting to learn how to use YADE for a DEM study that has to do with propagating seismic waves into rock. I want to kindly ask if modelling seismic waves using Yade is possible and if yes could you please refer me to an article or reference code that might help.

Thank you!

Well, wave propagation is inherent to DEM since it is a bunch of springs pushing and pulling on one another :-). So yes, it is most definitely possible, but AFAIK there is no article or code that has done this with Yade already. Please be a little more specific about what you want to model so we can help you piece together existing functionalities. For example, if you are simply trying to model a seismometer - displacement vs time plot from a specific location - then Yade already has the tools necessary. But maybe you are looking for something more sophisticated w.r.t wave tracking?

Can you help with this problem?
