concurrent multiscale method by coupling YADE with FEM

Asked by sunwei

Now i want to couple Yade with any FEM to realize the concurrent multiscale simulation. I Had read some references like "OPEN SOURCE FEM-DEM COUPLING" by J. Stransk ´ y ´ . But I still cannot understand it.

can anyone give me some examples about the realization of YADE-OOFEM through MUPIF. what are the interfaces of YADE and OOFEM respectively in MUPIF? How the MUPIF connect them? how to apply the interaction between them?

yeah,i know this coupling paradigm. but it is a type of semi-concurrent multiscale method.now I aim to develop a concurrent multiscale method combined DEM with FEM. Are there any references about the DEM-FEM based on MUPIF, such as codes?

I see. Only Jan can tell more about Mupif at this point.

Hello Jan

I managed to install this with some help from system admin and planning to setup some simple test and get use to the coupling process before jumping into some problem. Do you have any step-step guide as tutorial including mesh format etc (Can I use mesh and boundary condition from GiD for the FEM). I am planning to start with Triaxial test and Thick Wall cylinder Test. I have also other questions related to this FEM-DEM techniques but I do it one a time once I can run with the techniques :-) . If all these question will bother the other forum team. I can ask directly.

Looking forward your email reply and guidance.

Thanks and best regards

Surej.

Who is that? :)
Actually it should be interesting to follow your progress on such things, don't hesitate to communicate here on launchpad.

no, I have step by step tutorial, sorry :-)

to use mesh and BCs should be feasible somehow (I don't know GiD).

I would say if it is related to Yade, you can ask here. But in the case of purely FEM question, I would suggest to ask directly (using email or github issues)

cheers
