viscous damping in bonded particles

Asked by r.foulad@yahoo.com

Hi,

I am trying to make a simple model of some mass-spring systems in series configuration. I am using CohFricMat to create bonded particles. My problem is that I cannot define viscous damping when I use Law2_ScGeom6D_CohFrictPhys_CohesionMoment. I know this functor does not use velocity based damping. So I have to use numerical damping, which is not suitable for dynamic simulation (based on what I understood). Could you help me how I can have a simple model of a few bonded particle with viscous damping? ( I am trying to see free vibration of mass-spring systems in series configuration)

Thanks,
Reza.

Hi,

as a "quick" solution you can try to use clumps and
ViscEl particle model, where contact damping is implemented.
I will probably also need such a function soon in CohFrictMat,
so I will try to implement it in FrictMat. It should be done
wise not to duplicate the code.

Best regards

Anton
