Free plan

Asked by bruna

Hello everyone,

I think my question is simple. I'm trying to simulate shear observing the rearrangement of the particles. For this I tryed to put a plan in the top of my box. With this I want to, by the observation of the movement of the plan that is supposed to go up and down, see the movement of the sample's particles that will expand or not. My problem is that I can't put a plan that is free for moving. Always I put the plan in the position I want, it keeps steady with the forces on it growing.
I also tryed to put a Box with fixed=False instead of a Plan but when the simulation starts, the Box just disappear.

Does anybody has a suggestion that can helps me?

Thanks a lot.

Hi bruna
if you wan to simulate a plane that could move up and down i think you can find that by studying oedometric test (2.6.3 Oedometric test) in Yade documentaion[1]. at that example 'plate' object is what you are searching.
best regards

Hi,

Mohsen's suggestion could work in case the Oedometric test plate is dynamic (fixed = false) but I do not think it is the case (I could not check)
I think your Box idea is the good one, Bruna, it is worth to investiguate why it did not work as you expected:
- does the Box have a mass ?
- Yade bodies usually do not disappear even though it happens sometimes they very far.. Check for the exact position of the Box (state.pos) to know more.
