Simple chute simulation

Asked by Klaus Müller

Hi,

I want to make a simple chute simulation with clumps.
My problem is, how to define the friction angle for the contact of clump-chute and clump-clump. I have two materials, one for the clump and one for the chute.

I hope someone can halp me.

Thank you.

Hi Klaus,

if you have defined two materials with two different friction angles yade will take the minimum value of the two materials in contact, i.e. clumpmatfrict=35, chutematfrict=30 -> clump-clump=35, clump-chute=30. This should apply to all contact laws and works fine if the friction angle of the clump material is bigger than the one for the chute material. If this is not the case some contact laws offer the possibility to define MatchMaker which means you can define the friction angle in the IP2 functor on the basis of the two materials in contact. Please have a look here [1] epecially #13 onwards.
