IMPORTANT - capillary files updated

Asked by Luc Scholtès

Hi all,

and sorry for mass mail but there was a mistake in the capillary files needed for the capillary law. They are all updated and can be downloaded from here (https://yade-dem.org/wiki/CapillaryTriaxialTest) as before. The mistake was in the definition of the volume of the menisci. The forces are unchanged.

Everything should work as usual. Tell us if it is not the case.

Cheers

  Luc

So the changes should not influence the calculation results with yade, right?

should not, only the volumes have changed.

HI luc, please tell me how to put it in my computer, there is no yade/bin folder in my computer, I can just see yade file in bin folder, If it is possible, give some command in ubuntu, thank you! I download it in to my home folder now.

Hi liucheng,

You have to paste the files M(r=i) into the folder where the yade executable is (I guess it is the "yade file in bin folder" you mentionnned).

Actually the files need to be in current path (from which you start
yade), which may be bin or a different one.
But actually, if you don't know where to put the new files, it means you
didn't have the previous ones and you don't need them at all (because
you don't use capillary law...)

Thank you all, but when I put M(r=i) to /usr/bin folder where there are yade-stable and yade-stable-bath in it, and I test the script
CapillaryPhys-example.py in example folder in yade doc, It get the message like this:

Running script CapillaryPhys-example.py
WARNING: cannot open files used for capillary law, all forces will be null. Instructions on how to download and install them is found here : https://yade-dem.org/wiki/CapillaryTriaxialTest.
Press PLAY button

I think I put the wrong folder, but where is the yade when I install yade-stable or yade-daily with the command:
sudo apt-get install yade-stable

Hope for more suggestions, thank you!

See the Bruno's answer:

It is a bad idea to put files in /usr/bin, where your yade-stable and
yade-daily are installed.

I have put the files in the path where CapillaryPhys-example.py in it, it works.
I'm not sure what is the meaning current path (from which you start yade) is, because the yade-stable and yade-stable-bath are in /usr/bin.

Type "pwd" and see the result. This is your current path.

Then:
cd /usr/bin
pwd

This is your new path.
