Cant Detect Hard Disk

hi, im new to unix based OS im trying to install XUbuntu, i have the installer, its bootable as live CD and i have option to install it, i cant see any HD there, i tried using gnome but no devices available.

i have 3 partions FAT32, EXT3, LUNIX SWAP
 the EXT3 is the active one and all of them are not hidden

plz help

Try to install (X)Ubuntu Alternate. It's for systems that need special configuration and/or with small virtual memory.
If it does not work, try to check for CD defects and make a memory test.

Thanks for your help, the (X)Ubuntu Alternate worked fine, i also need another advice from u if posible,

I am installing this for testing purpose on VESA pc to be used on hotel system, if u can advice me with another OS, i only want to user Mozilla Firefox and its plug ins, VLC, flash player, Java, Arabic support, the client will be able to use the Mozilla browser only.
