icon in systray

I'd like to see Xpad icon in systray. I have ubuntu 16.04 unity 64 bit.

This is a known issue and wish.

To resolve this issue, the current systray implementation (GtkStatusIcon) needs to be replaced with something that works on GTK (Gnome and others), Qt (KDE and others) and Unity (Ubuntu).

I don't have experience in those fields, so I need some help / advice how to approach this change.

Do you know somebody who is willing to support me on this matter?
Or maybe you know a good source on the Internet with a guide?
